Tapsion won her debut at seven furlongs on Oct. 13 to become the 15th winner for Gun Runner, who leads the 2021 First-Crop sire list with nearly $1.9 million in progeny earnings to date.

Tapsion, a Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC homebred, was content to sit a few lengths behind a trio battling for the lead. She moved to the outside going into the final turn, going four-wide to engage Sangria City for the lead. That pair raced together until the final sixteenth, when Tapsion pulled away to win by three-quarters of a length (WATCH RACE).

The winner is the first foal out of Untapped, who is a full sister to Winchell’s champion filly Untapable. Untapped has a Gun Runner yearling colt.

Gun Runner’s first crop includes four graded stakes winners: colts Gunite and Pappacap, and fillies Echo Zulu and Wicked Halo.
