Sweet Bye and Bye chalked up her second career stakes win Saturday at Gulfstream Park with an emphatic 2 1/2-length victory in the $100,000 Sand Springs S.

Coming from fourth after a half-mile, 6-year-old Sweet Bye and Bye rolled past pacesetter Sweet Melania with a furlong to run and was much the best as Feel Glorious (GB) ran on late to be a distant second.

The final time for the 1 1/16-miles on the firm turf 1:39.49.

Early in the race, she was very relaxed,” winning trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. said. “I thought she might be too relaxed, but she had plenty of run in her, so we’re thankful for that. Irad (jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr.) gave her a perfect trip and thank Joe for giving us a filly of this quality.”

Sweet Bye and Bye, owned by her breeder Joseph Imbesi, has an excellent lifetime record of 8-4-4 in 20 starts, predominantly in stakes races, with earnings of $506,060. She is a half-sister to the stakes winner Buy Land and See.

Sweet Bye and Bye is one of Sky Mesa’s 143 lifetime stakes horses, which ranks in the top 15 among all sires in standing in North America.
