Wicked Halo, winner of last year’s Adirondack S. (G2), returned to the winner’s circle with a sharp score in the $158,000 Leslie’s Lady S. on Sunday afternoon at Churchill Downs.

The 3-year-old filly was the first of two stakes winners on the card for Gun Runner, with Cyberknife taking the featured Matt Winn S. (G3) later in the day.

Wicked Halo, who also won Churchill Downs’ Debutante S. last June, was away well in Sunday’s seven-furlong contest, stalking Pretty Birdie through a quarter in :23.07 and a half-mile in :45.41. The gray duo got into a heated battle at the top of the stretch, with Wicked Halo getting the best of in the final furlong, drawing clear to win by 2 ¾-lengths in 1:22.61 on a fast main track.

Bred and owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds, Wicked Halo is 3-0-3 in seven starts and has earned $313,050.

Out of Just Wicked, who also won the Adirondack, Wicked Halo has a 2-year-old full-sister named Wicked Again and a yearling full-sister. Just Wicked was again bred to her sire for this season.
